Notice of Race

1.0              Rules

1.1              The regatta will be governed by the ‘rules’ as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing

1.2              The YNZ Safety Regulations shall apply as follows:

1.2.1        Centreboard & Open Yachts shall comply with Part I.

1.2.2        Trailer Yachts and Sports Trailer Yachts shall comply with Part V category C.

1.2.3        Keel Yachts shall comply with Part II, category 4.

1.2.4        Sports Boats shall comply with Part VI, category B.

 

2.0              Eligibility and Entry 

2.1              Racing is open to boats of all classes.

2.2              Advance entries will be accepted until 1200 hours on12 th May 2013, by completing the attached entry form accompanied by a fee of:

2.3       Enter by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fee to Napier Sailing Club Inc, West Quay, Ahuriri, Napier P.O.Box 12048, Napier or email to napiersail@xtra.co.nz with payment to Westpac Bank 03 0698 0040708 00 reference ‘NSC Winter Series.’

2.4              Measurement is not required but each boat shall submit proof of holding a valid measurement or rating certificate at registration if requested.

2.5              To be eligible to compete, each competitor, and each entrant and crew member shall be a financial member of a member club of Yachting New Zealand (YNZ), or of a club recognised by that person’s national authority.

A prize giving dinner is scheduled for the evening of 15th September

4.0              Sailing Instructions

4.1              The Sailing Instructions will be available at registration.

5.0              Racing Area

5.1              The races will be held on the waters of Hawke Bay.

6.0              Courses to be Sailed

6.1              The courses will be Modified Optimist trapezoid, Triangular, Windward/ Leeward or any combination.

7.0              Alternative Penalties

7.1              For the multi hull, skiff & trailer yacht classes rule 44.2 is changed so that the two-turns penalty is replaced by the one turn penalty.

8.0              Scoring

8.1              The Low Point scoring system of Appendix A will apply.

8.2              5 races will be required to be completed to constitute a series.

8.3              When fewer than 6 races have been completed a boats series score will be the total of her race scores. When from 6 to 10 races have been completed the worst score shall be excluded.

8.4              A handicap result may be scored for a mixed trailer/keel yacht class/division.

9.0              Prizes

9.1              Prizes may be awarded.

10.0          Support Boats

10.1          Support boats will be allowed.

10.2          Support boats must be registered with the Organising Authority at registration.

11.0          Replacement of Crew or Equipment

11.1          Substitution of competitors will not be allowed without prior written approval of the race committee.

11.2          Substitution of competitors will not be allowed for single-handed boats.

11.3          Substitution of competitors may be allowed for crewed boats though the substitute helm shall be the crew of that boat in the first instance.

12.0          Radio Communication

A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing, nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones.

13.0          Disclaimer of Liability

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their risk. See rule 4 (Racing Rules) Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
