Learn to sail


The Napier Sailing Club offers a number of sailing classes designed for different levels and groups of people, any ages from 8 – 80 plus.

Optimist Youth Learn to Sail


Learn to Sail

Programmes run through the year starting October for ages 8 to 14. This course is ideal for young people who have had little or no sailing experience. Students will achive Yachting NZ Level 1 & 2 certification.

Courses for 2012 – 2013

  • Course 1: Learn to Sail. First week of School Holidays 1 – 5 October, 1.00pm – 4.00pm.    Limit 12
  • Course 2: Learn to Race.  Second Week of School Holidays 8 – 12 October, 1.00pm – 4.00pm. Limit 12
  • Course 3: Learn to Sail. Sunday mornings, 9.30am – 12.30pm during term four – six sessions in total. Limit 12
  • Course 4: Learn to Sail. Sunday mornings, 9.30am – 12.30pm during term one, 2013 – six sessions in total. Limit 12
  • Additional Courses may be run during January 2013.
  • Course Fees: $150 pp

Introductory

A fun three hour course introducing you to the basics of sailing.

Learn to Sail

This course covers: Rigging, Rules, Theory, Safety, and out on the water sailing. An estimated length of ten hours. This course is for those who wish to have a better understanding of the principals of sailing.

Learn to Race

Introduction to yacht racing, Applied Rules, Tactics, & Strategy.

ALL CLUB INSTRUCTOR COURSES AVAILABLE FOR ONE ON ONE OR GROUPS
Operating times to suit both parties 7 Days a week

Gear List: Please bring your own wetsuit if possible/required; jersey; spray jacket; shoes; sun block; complete change of clothes. The clubrooms have changing rooms with showers and toilets for your convenience.
